Keanu Reeves officially returning for 'John Wick 5' after character's death speculation
Briefly

Keanu Reeves is set to return as John Wick in the newly announced 'John Wick 5', dispelling rumors of the character's death in the previous film. Lionsgate's Adam Fogelson expressed excitement about what Reeves, along with returning director Chad Stahelski and producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, will bring to this next chapter. The vague ending of 'John Wick 4', which left audiences wondering about Wick's fate, was intentionally designed. However, the creative team is focused on giving John's story a fulfilling continuation.
"Keanu, Chad, Basil, and Erica would not return unless they had something truly phenomenal and fresh to say with these characters and this world," Fogelson stated. "We can't wait for audiences to see where the journey takes us next."
In a separate statement, Iwanyk and Lee remarked, "It's so important to get this story right and give John's story the proper next step. It's exciting to take the first step on that road."
Stahelski revealed that the original conclusion showed Wick alive, stating, "We shot an ending where you actually saw John Wick at the end of the movie. So it was very clear that he was still alive."
