Patrice Bergeron is 40 and retired in 2023 after 19 seasons with the Boston Bruins. He was a three-time All-Star, six-time Selke Trophy winner and a key member of the 2011 Stanley Cup championship team. Bergeron also won two Olympic gold medals with Canada. He attended Hockey Hall of Fame induction events for former teammates Zdeno Chara, Duncan Keith and Joe Thornton while expressing humility about his own Hall of Fame candidacy. Bergeron credited Zdeno Chara for leadership, daily professionalism, mentorship of younger players and emphasis on accountability and off-ice care.
