Pavel Zacha's Olympic dream turned into a nightmare due to ill-timed injury
""That was one of the most frustrating things, especially [doing] things you're excited for - the outdoor [Stadium Series] game and the Olympics, especially mid-season," Zacha said. "So to make the decision of not going was really hard. Especially, even watching the games, now - it's hard to watch a little bit [now] that I can't be there and experience it. So it wasn't the easiest.""
"Pavel Zacha said the decision to not go to the Olympics was a "mutual" decision after consulting with both the Czech National Team and the Bruins. Timeline didn't add up after getting injured on Jan. 29. "Even watching the games now, it's hard to watch a little bit." pic.twitter.com/BTschcESwo- Conor Ryan (@ConorRyan_93) February 18, 2026"
Pavel Zacha missed the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics after suffering an injury on Jan. 29 and was unable to join Team Czechia. The Bruins and the Czech National Team mutually decided he would not travel because the recovery timeline did not align with the tournament. Zacha expressed significant frustration at missing major events, including the outdoor Stadium Series game, and said watching Olympic games from the Bruins facility was difficult. Zacha had been one of the first six NHL players named to Czechia’s Olympic roster in June 2025 and has been a top-six stalwart for Boston this season.
