The Celtics returned from a five-game road trip and beat the Bulls 115-101 to move into second in the Eastern Conference. Payton Pritchard, offensive rebounds, and tough defense built a 20-point first-half lead. Simons was scoreless in the first half but ignited in the second, drilling multiple 3-pointers and finishing with a season-high 27 points, all in the second half. The Bulls mounted a third-quarter push, trimming the lead, but Simons’ long-range shooting and timely baskets helped the Celtics stave off the comeback and secure the win.
"You had to look closely, but tucked into the background of Jaylen Brown's 50-point decimation of the Clippers on Saturday were several buckets by Simons that won't be remembered long but helped the Celtics hold the Clippers at arm's length. Simons is-at his best-as good a scorer as you'll find in the NBA, but sometimes the Celtics just need him to fill the gaps."
"Then Simons went off with the force of a firecracker. His first 3-pointer found the net halfway through the third quarter. Roughly 17 minutes of gametime later, he buried his eighth 3-pointers of the game, all of which were necessary as the Celtics beat back a surprisingly robust push by the Bulls that trimmed the lead from 23 to 11 with plenty of time remaining to finish the comeback."
