Derrick White gets candid about 'different' season that awaits Celtics
"It's definitely going to be different. It has to be. We lost KP, Jrue, Luke, and obviously JT being out. So, you lose three out of five starters. And even Al. So it's definitely going to change. We're a younger team. Kind of ever since I've been in Boston, we've had the same core. We've had the same group."
"... I think that'll be probably the biggest adjustment - just getting everybody accustomed to how we do things in Boston and how we like to play, how we operate. So I think that will be the biggest adjustment, just getting the new guys on board as quickly as possible."
The Celtics enter 2025-26 with significant roster upheaval following the 2024 championship and a ruptured Achilles for Jayson Tatum that could sideline him all season. Luxury-tax pressures forced trades of Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis and prevented re-signing Luke Kornet and Al Horford, substantially reducing veteran depth. Remaining core pieces include Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, and Payton Pritchard, but the team will be younger and require rapid integration of new players. Rapid adjustment during training camp and early season play will be critical to re-establish defensive and offensive continuity under constrained payroll conditions.
