Esther Wallace, a Springfield native and founder of Playa Society, has launched a Celtics merch collection through the Bleacher Report Artist Collective. The apparel, which includes a baseball jersey and a sweatshirt, features luxurious materials and careful craftsmanship, embodying a winning culture associated with the Celtics' pursuit of Banner 18. Growing up playing basketball, Wallace transitioned from a WNBA apparel brand pitch to creating a community-centered sports brand, with support from the WNBA and a vision for empowering women in sports.
As the founder of Playa Society, she has created a space for women in sports through apparel that prioritizes story and community.
The new B/R collaboration marks a return of sorts, her full-circle moment.
In 2021, I had the opportunity to meet with the WNBA. It was my first brand pitch... rooted in authenticity, culture, and community.
Now for the B/R partnership, I have support and encouragement from the WNBA. They were like, 'You can do it. We'll support you.'
