Jaylen Brown returned to Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia, for a ceremony retiring his high school basketball No. 0 and to speak at the school's Martin Luther King Jr. assembly. He graduated in 2015. Brown entered the gymnasium to loud cheers and a standing ovation from students. A malfunction occurred during the jersey unveiling when the cover did not release immediately, but staff eventually removed it to display the banner. Brown described the brief defect as fitting and said it captured his high school experience. He spoke about adversity and recalled a 2014 tweet about a teacher's negative prediction.
