Plans are underway for a 12-unit apartment building at 155 Charles St., which will stand 65 feet tall. Egeria Group is transforming the CVS pharmacy into this five-story residential building with ground-floor retail. Two units will be set aside for affordable housing. The project comes after discussions regarding height reductions; the original six-story proposal has been scaled back to five stories. The development team engaged with local residents to address concerns about the building's design and impact on the historic aesthetic of Beacon Hill.
"While Beacon Hill has a lot of beautiful aesthetics and history, this CVS building is not one of them," said attorney Joseph P. Hanley. The redevelopment aims to enhance the area's look.
"What we're looking at is still making sure this building is befitting its space and its place on this corner," said Rode principal and cofounder Eric Robinson.
