2025 Red Sox in Review: The inconsistent glory of Ceddanne Rafaela
"Ceddanne Rafaela remains one of the best defensive outfielders in the entire sport. He genuinely deserves a Platinum Glove and it will be a complete robbing if he doesn't get at least a Gold Glove, just like he got robbed from the All-Star game. He's our new JBJ! And his speed on the basepaths has been fantastic as well. Just take a look at these Savant stats:"
"He's our new JBJ! And his speed on the basepaths has been fantastic as well. Just take a look at these Savant stats: And despite all his diving catches, he didn't get injured this year! Unlike Wilyer Abreu, who seemed to get hurt once every two months, Ceddanne was consistent and nearly always played, even when he might've had a few scrapes (i.e. that near wrist contusion, and when his necklace chain bumped into his face while making a catch)."
"He's also begun to develop a clutch gene. Similarly to how he comes through on making great catches, he also came through with several game-changing hits or home runs this season. When he's on fire, he's flaming hot. His late July run helped the Sox produce a 10-game win streak, which was crucial to eventually securing a playoff spot. Rafaela's also become a super likable player that's easy to root for."
Ceddanne Rafaela is one of the best defensive outfielders in the sport and merits Platinum Glove consideration and at least a Gold Glove. His speed on the basepaths is excellent and his diving catches have not caused major injuries, allowing consistent availability. He has developed a clutch ability with game-changing hits and a late July run that helped the team produce a 10-game win streak and reach the playoffs. He is a likable, hard-playing presence and has formed a close friendship with Brayan Bello. However, offensive struggles late in the season, a high chase rate, and a very low walk rate undermined his overall offensive value.
