""Roman Anthony ... is closer to No. 1 than Cody Bellinger and Byron Buxton," Greg Amsinger said upon the ranking reveal."
""I love Roman Anthony. Wow, what a talent. This is way too close to No. 1. I mean, way too close.""
""He's in exactly the right spot. Part of what they're doing is projecting, based upon what they saw, what he'll be in 2026," he said."
Roman Anthony, 21, played 71 major-league games after being called up from Triple-A Worcester on June 9 and saw his season end with an oblique strain on Sept. 2. He posted a .292 batting average, .396 on-base percentage and .859 OPS with eight home runs, 32 RBI, 40 walks and 18 doubles. Anthony adapted quickly to the outfield and Fenway Park's right field while integrating smoothly with the roster. He finished third in American League Rookie of the Year voting. MLB Network ranked him No. 41 on its top 100 entering 2026, prompting mixed reactions from the network's analysts.
