Jason Varitek's contract with the Boston Red Sox expires this offseason after serving as a coach in the dugout since 2021 and holding the title of game planning and run prevention coach. Varitek expressed a desire to continue mentoring and coaching and indicated he wants to remain in Boston while acknowledging outside managerial opportunities. MassLive reports his role is not expected to change despite the contract ending and that no team has requested to interview him for a managerial opening. Varitek plans to speak with Craig Breslow about his future as the team works to retain roster talent including Alex Bregman.
