Red Sox Scouting Director Prepared For 'Deep Draft'
Briefly

The 2025 Major League Baseball Draft will start on July 13, with the Boston Red Sox aiming to draft elite amateur talent. The Red Sox's roster features contributions from rookies Marcelo Mayer and Roman Anthony. They traded their last two first-round picks for pitcher Garrett Crochet. Red Sox director of amateur scouting, Devin Pearson, indicated the draft is college pitching-heavy at the top and emphasizes overall value on draft night. The Red Sox have four picks: 15, 33, 75, and 87.
"It seems to be college pitching-heavy at the top. And then a nice spread of all four demographics at the 10-15 range," Pearson told Browne.
"I don't know if it puts more pressure. I think, more than anything, it just makes our group feel stronger that whoever we select is going to carry value in multiple ways, through trades or how they play."
