ICU nurse says parts of her face are 'all metal' after tragic moped crash in Thailand
Briefly

Sierra Fairhurst, a 23-year-old ICU nurse, faced life-threatening injuries following a moped crash during her vacation in Thailand. The accident left her with a brain bleed, broken bones, and damaged facial features. Her mother, Zoe Rose, expressed gratitude for her survival and emphasized that while Sierra has a challenging recovery ahead, her physical injuries can be treated. After the accident, Fairhurst was hospitalized in Krabi and later Bangkok before returning home. Complications arose due to her lost identification, which added to the challenges of her recovery and return process.
Despite the long road ahead for her, this could have been completely different, and I'm so grateful to have her here, alive and her brain in working order.
I remember going to see the elephants, and we went zip-lining and all the excursions that we did, but that's it. My eye socket is broken, I almost lost my eye, my cheek bones and nose were broken, so that's all metal now.
In the confusion of the accident and her friends packing luggage to transfer with her to the next hospital, all of Sierra's identification is missing.
Her face can be fixed, her wounds will heal, bones can be repaired. She has the strength to overcome all of this.
