Sean Kennedy, the Lincoln Police Chief in Massachusetts, has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest for alleged domestic violence. Charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, Kennedy is accused of injuring his wife during an altercation at their home. Town officials have stated that they take the allegations seriously and will conduct an internal review. Kennedy, who pleaded not guilty and was released on personal recognizance, will return to court for a pretrial hearing in late June.
Lincoln Town Administrator Timothy Higgins stated, 'The Town takes any such allegations very seriously and, consistent with Town Policy, has placed the Chief on administrative leave.'
According to the police report, Kennedy allegedly threw his wife into a wall during an argument, causing her facial injuries that required stitches.
Kennedy pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on personal recognizance with conditions, including no contact with the victim.
Lincoln officials are conducting an internal review and will appoint an acting chief during a select board meeting.
