Milton priest dies days after bicycle collision with SUV

Father James B. Doran, a 68-year-old Milton priest, succumbed to injuries sustained from a collision with an SUV while riding his bicycle. The accident occurred on Route 138, and he was transported to a Boston trauma center but unfortunately passed away two days later. The driver of the SUV, an 85-year-old man from Hyde Park, was reportedly uninjured. Doran was affiliated with the Oblates of the Virgin Mary and had dedicated part of his life to missionary work in Brazil. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
"Father Jim lived a life of humble service, prayer, and devotion to Christ, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him," the congregation said in a statement.
The 85-year-old Hyde Park man who was driving the SUV was not reported injured, according to Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey.
Milton police, State Police, and the DA's office are investigating the crash, according to the DA's office.
Doran was a member of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary at the St. Joseph Retreat House in Milton, according to the DA's office.
