Affordable Housing on Boerum Hill Parking Lot Moves Forward
Briefly

A city-owned parking lot in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn, will be redeveloped into 70 affordable, rent-stabilized apartments, community space, and a job training center. The project will be led by the Fifth Avenue Committee and Magnusson Architecture and Planning PC. The development will prioritize two- and three-bedroom apartments for families, with 21 units reserved for formerly homeless individuals. This initiative is part of a broader effort to combat the housing crisis by utilizing underused city land for essential community resources.
The forthcoming building in one of Brooklyn's most expensive neighborhoods will contain affordable apartments, community space, and job training center.
The development team is made up of the nonprofit Fifth Avenue Committee, which will act as the sole and lead developer of the project, and Magnusson Architecture and Planning PC (MAP Architects).
Approximately 21 of the 70 new units will be reserved for formerly homeless families and individuals, while the remaining 49 will be available through rent-stabilized pricing.
Deputy Mayor Adolfo Carrión Jr. stated that transforming a parking lot into affordable housing and a job center is essential to combat the housing crisis.
