Brooklyn Creative Reuse Opens at Industry City
""We accept anything that could be used in some sort of creative way, so it's very open.""
""We like to hire teaching artists that have their own fun, creative ideas that they want to teach.""
""We're really hoping that people want to enjoy their time here and spend their free time creating.""
""I hope people will take advantage of the classes and workshops on offer.""
Brooklyn Creative Reuse, launched by Stephanie O'Brien, aims to keep art materials out of landfills by reselling them at affordable prices. The nonprofit opened a physical location in Sunset Park's Industry City after a year of pop-ups and fundraising. It accepts donations of various art-related materials and offers classes in diverse subjects, taught by creative artists. O'Brien encourages community engagement through workshops and hopes to inspire people to choose reused supplies over new ones.
