CityPickle unveils big plans for pickleball courts at Brooklyn Bridge's Anchorage Plaza
Briefly

CityPickle is set to create a 60,000-square-foot recreation area at Anchorage Plaza, DUMBO, featuring 11 pickleball courts and additional community spaces. The concession, part of a three-year license with possible extensions, will open between Fall 2025 and Spring 2026, subject to permits and construction. Designed to enhance urban livability, the site will cater to both active and passive recreational needs, reflecting community input while being temporary due to upcoming Brooklyn-Queens Expressway renovations. CityPickle aims to enhance public health and well-being through innovative placemaking.
The CityPickle Brooklyn Bridge plan actively demonstrates how pickleball can transform placemaking in dense cities. Our goal is to create a public space that improves urban vitality and promotes health, happiness and well-being.
The concession is temporary because designs for a reconstructed Brooklyn-Queens Expressway would likely involve the Anchorage Plaza space, the city said last year.
