Gas main rupture in Ridge Boulevard injures one

On April 24, a main gas rupture in Bay Ridge left one National Grid worker seriously injured. The incident occurred at 4:43 p.m. on 86th Street, leading to an emergency response involving 60 firefighters and EMS crews. All buildings in the immediate area were evacuated as National Grid shut down gas flow. The injury was serious enough to require hospitalization at NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn. By 8:25 p.m., the situation was controlled, allowing residents to return home safely while National Grid crews remained on site for further inspections.
FDNY stated that it happened at 4:43 p.m. on 86th Street between Colonial Road and Ridge Boulevard. 12 units along with 60 firefighters and EMS workers rushed to the scene.
The situation was deemed under control at 8:25 p.m. Valves at both ends of the affected section of the main have been closed, allowing residents to return home.
