Despite being in what is considered one of the safest areas for cycling, I still got T-boned from behind by an e-bike rider, highlighting the unpredictability even in seemingly safe environments.
After the collision, the e-bike rider admitted he was preoccupied with being late to pick up his kid and recognized he should have announced his passing.
While I participated in advocacy for safer biking conditions, my experience with e-bikes has left me questioning if the right to ride recklessly is worth jeopardizing safety for all.
I ride defensively and remain aware of my surroundings, but the incident makes clear that e-bikes can pose a serious threat, even in secure biking zones.
