The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce hosted its fourth annual Energy Summit and Trade Expo, focusing on clean energy and business innovation. National Grid's president, Sally Librera, underscored the importance of affordable and sustainable energy while discussing challenges in energy infrastructure, particularly for renewable sources. The summit attracted around 400 attendees, including leaders from various sectors, engaging in discussions about future energy policies and innovations. Librera emphasized a balanced energy strategy that incorporates both renewable energy and new energy sources to maintain reliable services for New Yorkers.
Finding a balance that's affordable, sustainable and meets a rapidly growing demand for energy is the critical question that we're all facing right now. We would go about achieving that by finding a balanced pathway forward that continues to develop renewable energy and continues to move us along the energy transition but at the same time looks for new sources of energy so that we can continue to provide reliable and safe energy for our customers, which is our core responsibility.
One of the benefits of doing a more decentralised approach is we can be smarter about not only how we generate energy but also how we consume energy.
