""Through an extensive engagement process, we heard directly from residents about the need for welcoming, culturally sensitive community spaces," Herb Regnier, executive director of Bangladeshi American Community Development and Youth Services, said."
"The building will include nearly 10,000 square feet of community space operated by BACDYS, which serves the neighborhood's Bangladeshi American population."
"The $160 million development is financed through city housing agencies and private investment, including funding from Goldman Sachs' Urban Investment Group."
The 213-unit affordable housing development at 570 Eldert Lane in Cypress Hills will feature a mix of studio to four-bedroom apartments. Sixty-six units are designated for formerly homeless residents, while others cater to households earning 40 to 80 percent of the area median income. The project replaces a parking lot and includes community space operated by BACDYS. Designed to exceed green building standards, it will incorporate solar power and energy-efficient systems. Construction is set to finish in 2028, with occupancy planned for 2029.
