Nets trade lone second-round pick a day after five first-round selections
Briefly

The Nets surprised observers by keeping all five of their first-round picks in the 2025 NBA Draft but later traded their only second-round pick to the Suns for two future picks. The Suns were active in the offseason and made multiple trades, including one for the No. 10 pick. Meanwhile, RJ Luis Jr., a standout from St. John's, remained on the board as a potential undrafted talent seeking deals with NBA teams post-draft. Other Red Storm players also considered signing with NBA teams after the draft concluded.
Apparently five is enough.
They traded their last and only second-round pick a few hours before the event resumed Thursday night at Barclays Center.
That the Suns engaged the Nets is not unexpected as they've been especially active this offseason.
Luis was likely to sign some sort of deal with an NBA team regardless of whether he was one of the 59 picks.
