"They hit upon the core socks idea when they found out that homeless shelter guests were most in need of socks. They set out to create sock brand with unmatched quality and comfort that could command a premium price to allow a one-for-one donation to shelters. Bombas is opening its first owned flagship store at 345 Bleecker Street in New York City, with a "soft opening" and plans for additional stores in Boca Raton and Austin by year-end. The company is expanding wholesale distribution as well, with Target carrying a selection of socks this holiday and DSW becoming a retail partner for footwear. Founded in 2013 by Randy Goldberg and David Heath, the company built a one-for-one donation model to supply shelters with socks by pricing products to support donations. Early funding came from crowdfunding, friends and family, and Shark Tank backing from Daymond John. The brand has generated over $2 billion in sales.
