Metronet to Acquire US Internet
"USI is the premier independent fiber provider in Minneapolis with a tremendous reputation, and we are so proud that it is becoming part of the Metronet family,"
"Their coverage map complements Metronet's own footprint in the greater Minneapolis area, creating a strong strategic fit as we continue to accelerate the expansion of our network."
"For over 15 years, KKR has been a leader in the fiber space, delivering capital and capabilities to the world's most critical networks. By combining Metronet's leading build engine with T‑Mobile's national reach, we can accelerate world‑class connectivity to millions of underserved homes and businesses."
Metronet acquired US Internet, adding a Minnetonka-based fiber network offering symmetrical speeds up to 10 Gbps across more than 140,000 homes and businesses in and around Minneapolis. The acquisition expands Metronet’s regional footprint and complements its ongoing rapid fiber construction across dozens of cities. Metronet was recently acquired by a joint venture between T‑Mobile and KKR, creating a scaled platform to accelerate fiber deployment into underserved markets. KKR emphasized fiber's role in the modern economy and the combined capabilities of Metronet and T‑Mobile to accelerate connectivity to millions of underserved homes and businesses.
