4 California divers cited after hundreds of illegally caught lobsters found in pickup

In early August, authorities in Los Angeles cited four divers for collecting hundreds of undersized spiny lobsters from Royal Palms Beach, despite the closed season since March. Wildlife officers observed the divers at Royal Palms Beach after the spiny lobster season had ended in March, catching them in the act of taking lobsters.
Upon confrontation by wildlife officials, the four divers attempted to flee but were ultimately apprehended with a total of 236 spiny lobsters in their vehicle.
The individuals were cited for several misdemeanors, including collecting lobsters out of season and lacking the necessary licenses and measuring devices.
