Bay Area man, 93, allegedly kills spouse, calls 911 to report crime
"A 93-year-old Bay Area man is in custody after allegedly killing his spouse and then calling police to report the crime. Shortly after 12:20 a.m. Saturday, dispatchers received a 911 call from a man who said he'd just shot his spouse, Fremont police said. When officers arrived on the 5000 block of Mowry Avenue, they found a man standing outside his vehicle and a victim within. The victim was in the front passenger seat and was declared deceased at the scene."
"A firearm was also recovered from the vehicle, police said. The suspect, who police identified as Richard Hocking, 93, was arrested. "Hocking provided a statement to Fremont Police detectives, articulating the reasoning behind the incident," police said. The alleged motive has not been released, and police only identified the victim as an 86-year-old. Jail records show Hocking is currently incarcerated at the Santa Rita Jail on one count of first-degree murder."
