Walter O'Grodnick will assume duties as Brentwood interim police chief next month while the city begins recruitment for a permanent chief. Current Police Chief Tim Herbert will retire on Sept. 5 after more than three decades in law enforcement. O'Grodnick has served Brentwood since 1998 and began his career in Galt. He oversees the Support Services Division and has held numerous departmental roles including patrol officer, gang resource intelligence officer, field training officer, detective, sergeant, lieutenant, Special Weapons and Tactics, and division manager. O'Grodnick holds an associate degree in public safety services and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice management and completed local leadership programs.
