An unoccupied car flew off a tow truck and landed on the BART tracks alongside I-580 in Castro Valley on Tuesday afternoon. The CHP confirmed the incident and identified the location near Castro Valley Boulevard. All westbound lanes of I-580 east of Castro Valley Boulevard are closed, and two eastbound lanes are shut down. BART service is suspended between Castro Valley and West Dublin/Pleasanton because of the obstruction on the tracks. Emergency and transportation crews are responding to clear the vehicle and restore traffic and rail operations, with delays ongoing.
