Concord woman busted for allegedly escaping deputies through hospital bathroom window
"MARTINEZ - She went out through the bathroom window, and evaded deputies who searched the hospital grounds for any trace of her. But now this 27-year-old Concord resident is in jail, being held without bail, and has picked up a felony escape charge, court records show. It all started Aug. 21, as a seemingly routine check-in with a woman who was serving a jail sentence for burglary and petty theft, but had been allowed to enter a custody alternative program by the Contra Costa Sheriff's office."
"Deputies first transported her to a Martinez hospital to deal with a medical issue and allowed her to use the restroom. Several minutes later, they realized she made a run for it through the window. Police continued their search for the woman until Aug. 22, when she was located and arrested by Walnut Creek police, court records show. On Tuesday, prosecutors charged her with a felony count of escape."
A 27-year-old Concord resident was serving a jail sentence for burglary and petty theft and had been placed in a custody alternative program by the Contra Costa Sheriff's office. The program permits lower-level offenders to avoid jail while enforcing conditions such as drug testing. On Aug. 21 the woman failed a drug test and deputies began booking her into custody. Deputies transported her to a Martinez hospital for a medical issue and permitted her to use the restroom. Minutes later she exited through a bathroom window and evaded deputies. Walnut Creek police located and arrested her on Aug. 22, and prosecutors charged her with felony escape; she is being held without bail.
