DA Task Force Shuts Down Ghost Gun Factory in Campbell
""Our task force shut down a busy criminal ghost machine gun factory in the middle of an apartment building,""
""The defendant's 3D printer created guns that could be used for robberies and murders, is now out of order. The defendant who was flooding our community with illegal weapons is now behind bars.""
"All of the weapons were considered "ghost guns" - made and sold with no serial number to avoid tracing and detection."
Alfred Amaya, 28, a Campbell resident on probation for domestic violence, faces more than 30 felony charges including possession and manufacturing of machine guns and felony weapons possession. A Santa Clara County Gun Violence Task Force search of his apartment uncovered loaded firearms, multiple parts that transform guns into automatic weapons, three nearly finished weapons, 35 machine gun conversion devices, and a 3D printer actively producing rifle parts. Evidence showed two young children lived in the apartment within easy reach of the arsenal, prompting a child endangerment charge. Amaya was arraigned in San Jose and faces a lengthy prison term if convicted. Multiple local law enforcement agencies participated in the operation.
