East Bay resident identified as victim in fatal Vasco Road crash
"A motorcyclist who died in a crash on a rural road connecting Contra Costa and Alameda counties has been identified as a Brentwood resident. Curtis Carr, 54, died Monday morning after crashing on Vasco Road. The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office identified him publicly. The crash happened about 5 a.m. as Carr rode south and was just north of Dyer Road."
"The California Highway Patrol said he lost control of the motorcycle and that it crossed into the northbound lane and hit a guard rail. The crash ejected him and he landed down an embankment. The CHP has not said why they suspect the motorcycle lost control. Carr died at the scene."
"It took officers and Contra Costa County Fire Protection District crews more than 20 minutes to locate him. The motorcycle rolled a significant distance after hitting the guard rail, before finally stopping and blocking the northbound lane, the CHP said. A severe traffic backup ensued for the next three hours."
