'Get out the door before noon': AAA warns Bay Area drivers ahead Fourth of July
Briefly

California is experiencing a record number of travelers for July 4, with AAA advising Bay Area drivers to refuel in cheaper locations, such as Sacramento or surrounding areas. About 72.2 million Americans are expected to travel during the holiday week, surpassing last year’s figures. Due to anticipated heavy traffic, INRIX forecasts the worst travel days will be July 2 and July 6, with Interstate 80 predicted to have the toughest driving conditions. Advice includes avoiding travel after noon to mitigate traffic congestion.
One way people are looking to save the gas if you're going from the Bay Area where it's a little bit more expensive, you're traveling through the Central Valley, maybe to Lake Tahoe, save up to fill up your gas tank until you're in Sacramento, where it's significantly cheaper than it is in San Francisco, or if you're going through Modesto, or I think like Marysville, it's even cheaper in some of those outlying communities.
I know it's a challenge for most families, but if you can get out the door before noon, it's always much easier on the traffic than if you wait till later in the afternoon.
INRIX expects the worst traffic days to be Wednesday, July 2, and Sunday, July 6, with predictions indicating that Interstate 80 will experience the worst travel conditions this year.
