"On April 2nd, 2002, around 3:30 a.m. I was parked near a trail opening in Oakley, California. Around that time I saw (the girl) walking on a trail alone. I took advantage of the fact that it was dark. She was alone, and we were complete strangers,"
"When Jane Doe got closer, I approached her and threatened her to get into the back seat of my car."
"for 23 years I had evaded responsibility for my actions, but today I take accountability for the emotional and physical pain I caused Jane Doe by pleading guilty."
Eric Ferguson admitted in court to confronting a lone teen on an Oakley trail in April 2002, forcing her into his car and committing a forcible sexual act. Prosecutors resolved more severe counts of kidnapping, forcible rape and forcible oral copulation by accepting guilty pleas to unlawful sexual intercourse and false imprisonment. Ferguson received a formal two-year sentence but was released immediately because he had previously spent more than 400 days in custody and received credit, including double credit for good behavior. He was not required to register as a sex offender, according to court records.
