"Someone had come to the door asking to borrow jumper cables, and when Feldman said she'd have to ask her husband, daughter Melissa, then about 6, issued a correction: You're not married."
""And I said yes," she said. "In a second.""
"They wed in a small ceremony in their living room. Photos of Feldman and O'Reilley's life and travels together displayed at the ceremony."
Linda Feldman and Michael O'Reilley built a blended family while working as Alameda County public defenders and lived together in the Berkeley Hills. O'Reilley proposed many times over decades, but Feldman delayed remarriage because of family and caregiving responsibilities before accepting in 1987 to provide clarity for the children. O'Reilley later developed Alzheimer's disease and, while living in a memory care unit, wrapped his arms around Feldman and asked her to be his wife again. Feldman immediately said yes, and the couple held a vow renewal at The Ivy assisted living residence surrounded by family, friends, and photographs.
