"Lt. Clasby has devoted her entire professional life to work in law enforcement. She loves it. That's all she wants to do. That's all she's been trying to do. What she's asking for is simply the ability to do that in a professional, normal working environment,"
"This personnel matter is being handled in accordance with the City's establishe"
Lt. Julia Clasby filed a lawsuit in Orange County Superior Court alleging years of sexism, harassment and retaliation within the Seal Beach Police Department. The complaint states she was passed over for promotions, disparaged for being a mother, and denied training routinely provided to male colleagues. The lawsuit seeks unspecified monetary damages including past and future lost wages, pension benefits and emotional distress. The complaint details retaliatory internal affairs investigations. Clasby previously served in Laguna Beach on high-profile cases and was named one of Assemblymember Diane Dixon's women of the year. The city says it has not been served and is handling the personnel matter according to policy.
