The 6-5 fire has prompted evacuation orders for the towns of Yosemite Junction and Keystone, and an evacuation warning is in place for an area just south of Jamestown. A group of 22 lightning-sparked fires, named the TCU September Lightning Complex, ignited around 4 pm after monsoon-driven thunderstorms and have quickly grown across Calaveras and Tuolumne counties. The largest blaze, the 6-5 Fire, expanded to 6,473 acres overnight and swept into Chinese Camp, destroying multiple structures and mobile homes. The 2-2 Fire grew to 3,463 acres and is burning on both sides of Highway 4. There are nine separate fires of 15 acres or more, the complex has burned about 11,977 acres, and containment remains at 0%. Evacuation orders and warnings affect Yosemite Junction, Keystone, and areas south of Jamestown.
