"Locally, it's an influence that permeates throughout a state that once used to all be a part of Mexico and would be impossible to imagine any other way. There simply is no California without Hispanic people and culture. In these times of uncertainty, it's important to remember and celebrate the people and history that make us a strong, diverse and a beautiful community. This Wednesday, locals are invited to celebrate the folklorico and music of Mariachi Tapatio and Grupo Folklorico Los Laureles."
"Since 1988, Hispanic Heritage Month (the weeks between Sept. 15 and Oct. 15) has been a way to celebrate the rich culture, history and contributions of Hispanic people throughout the nation."
Hispanic Heritage Month runs annually from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 and honors the rich culture, history and contributions of Hispanic people nationwide. California’s cultural identity is deeply rooted in Hispanic heritage, reflecting a history that includes former Mexican governance and pervasive cultural influence. Celebrating that heritage reinforces community strength, diversity and beauty, especially during uncertain times. Local programming includes folklorico dance and mariachi music performances. Mariachi Tapatio performs on Wednesday, Oct. 15 with shows at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m.; tickets cost $10 at the Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga.
