Melodee Buzzard, 9, hasn't been seen for weeks. Now her mom isn't cooperating with police
""Ashlee is mentally unstable and my mom tried to get custody or at least grandparent rights to visit Melodee because she [Ashlee] wasn't letting our side of the family see her," Shade said."
""I am horrified for my little niece, I can't imagine what she's gone through," Shade said. "This does not sound good. I just want to know if she's OK. We need to find her.""
Melodee Buzzard, 9, was last seen in Lompoc in August and was reported missing after school officials flagged her prolonged absence. The girl enrolled in an independent learning program in August and has not been seen since. Sheriff's deputies visited a Vandenberg Village home and made contact with her mother, Ashlee Buzzard, who did not produce the child and refused to cooperate. Family members say Ashlee has a long history of mental illness and has prevented relatives from visiting. Relatives sought custody or grandparent visitation after Ashlee moved away following a family death. The most recent available photo is two years old and relatives continue searching.
