New Saratoga History Museum exhibit gives holidays an international flair
"For those not planning a getaway to faraway countries for festivities this year, the Saratoga History Museum was set to unveil a new exhibit on holiday celebrations worldwide on Nov. 20. The Spirit of Holidays Around the World will feature he traditions around several different holidays, like Diwali, Chinese New Year and Three Kings Day. It aims to have visitors reflect on the customs and holidays they observe and what traditions they would like to pass on. Watercolor paintings by Saratoga artist Kay Duffy will also be displayed."
"Wreaths Across America holds ceremonies during the holiday season at over 4,000 cemeteries throughout the U.S. to honor deceased veterans. They place live evergreen wreaths that are donated by the public on the veterans' gravesites. In 2024, the nonprofit distributed more than 3 million wreaths on headstones across the U.S. The nonprofit was almost halfway to its goal of funding 1,100 wreaths for the Saratoga ceremony. It earned Gold Medalist status from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and first place from the American Scholastic Press Association.
