A married couple in Redwood City both sustained gunshot wounds after officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on the 1300 block of Seaport Boulevard around midnight Sunday. The woman, Denise Alessan Madrigal Martinez, was pronounced dead at the scene. The man, Armando Madrigal Barajas Jr., was alive when found and taken to an area hospital but suffered a nonsurvivable head wound and later died. Investigators say the pair had been experiencing marital difficulties and that evidence indicates the man shot his wife before attempting to take his own life. A firearm was recovered and the case remains under investigation.
