Pacific Gas and Electric Company will lower residential electricity rates by about 5% starting January 1, reducing average customer bills by roughly $7 per month and CARE customer bills by about $4. Natural gas rates will decrease by about 3%, saving most customers approximately $1 per month. The utility links the reductions to stabilizing energy rates and notes this is the fourth rate decrease in the last two years. The company emphasizes stable, predictable bills for families and businesses and commits to finding and passing savings to customers despite expected national price increases.
