His elementary school years were spent at Palo Alto Public Schools before attending middle school at St. Joseph and graduating from Bellarmine High School in 1954. Ross was accepted into the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1954 and attended Santa Clara University Jesuit School of Theology as well as Gonzaga University (1958-1961)."

Philip Ross Beaudoin was born July 15, 1936 in Palo Alto, California to Heston Mark and Mabel Pauline Beaudoin. He attended Palo Alto schools, St. Joseph middle school, and graduated from Bellarmine High School in 1954. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1954 and studied at Santa Clara University Jesuit School of Theology and Gonzaga University (1958–1961). Known as Ross to friends and Spud to family, he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Renata, four children, two grandchildren, and extended relatives. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m., followed by cremation and private interment.
