Chapman University, located near Disneyland, has cultivated a strong connection to the iconic park. The university organizes regular trips to Disneyland for students, hosts exhibitions, and features memorabilia of Disney's first president, Jack Lindquist. Disney-themed activities are integrated into student life, notably through Club 55, a prominent student organization that celebrates Disney culture. The club engages members through games and a Disney-themed personality quiz. Additionally, the university is considering a Walt Disney academic program, further solidifying the deep-rooted ties between Chapman and Disney.
"One reason why I picked Chapman is kind of how close it was to Disney. And because we are so close, there's so many people that love it and just want to go all the time," Becca Grae, student and director of communications and marketing at Club 55, told SFGATE.
"Our club is really well known since we're so close to Disney and everything. Everyone's pretty excited about it," Amy Walker, student and president of Club 55, told SFGATE.
Founded in 2013, the Disney-focused student organization Club 55 takes its name from Club 33, the private Disneyland club. Fifty-five is a reference to the year Disneyland opened.
Some professors incorporate Disney into classes; and now, the university is considering a Walt Disney academic program.
