Ja'Kobi Lane suffered a broken foot in May and was limited through most of the summer. He was not running routes during practices open to reporters and was not deemed fully healthy until the final week of preseason camp. Lane progressed ahead of schedule and has been fully cleared to play in the season opener against Missouri State. He is expected to help stretch the field after catching 12 receiving touchdowns last season and scoring six touchdowns across the final two games. Lane remains in the process of regaining game shape and shaking off rust before kickoff.
Riley said that the junior wideout had actually "progressed a little bit ahead of schedule."
"You can see some of the rust starting to get knocked off now," Riley said of his top wideout.
