WestJet experienced a cyberattack on June 13 that disrupted its application and website availability. The breach exposed personal data of roughly 1.2 million people, including names, addresses, dates of birth, government-issued ID details, accommodation requests, and customer complaints. WestJet Rewards membership IDs, points balances and account information may have been compromised. Certain RBC Mastercard cardholder details, such as credit card identifier type and point balance changes, might also have been affected. WestJet notified the Maine Attorney General's Office and is offering 24 months of free monitoring, identity theft protection, and up to $1 million in expense reimbursement insurance. Credit card numbers, expiry dates, CVV numbers, and guest passwords were not compromised.
