Rob Cerjanec, a rookie Ontario Liberal caucus member elected in Ajax in 2025, entered the party leadership race under the slogan “Let’s Build Ontario.” He pledged to rebuild the party and focus on affordability measures while improving education and health-care systems. Stephanie Bowman, a fellow caucus member, will help run his campaign. Several other candidates have also entered, including former federal Liberal cabinet member Navdeep Bains, provincial caucus member and former hospital president Lee Fairclough, and former political staffer Dylan Marando, who was the first to enter. Nate Erskine-Smith indicated his leadership bid is less likely after losing a Scarborough Southwest nomination race to Ahsanul Hafiz.
