Kenneth Law, 60, pleaded guilty in Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Newmarket to aiding the suicides of 14 Ontario residents aged 16 to 36, with sentencing set for September. He also admitted that 79 people in Britain died after consuming or using products he sold. He marketed sodium nitrite and other items through four companies’ websites, including masks, hoods, and regulators. Sodium nitrite is a food additive in low concentrations but can be deadly at high concentrations. Between January 2021 and April 2023, he shipped 1,209 packages to customers in 41 countries, including 330 to Britain, 431 to the United States, and 157 within Canada. Victims described in court records vomited, collapsed, were found unresponsive, or died alone in hotel rooms and vehicles. Bank deposits linked to Shopify and PayPal accounts associated with his businesses occurred between 2020 and 2023.
