Huge paper warehouse burns in Ontario, collapsing roof, forcing firefighters to retreat
"The flames grew "exponentially" and quickly overwhelmed firefighters who rushed in to extinguish the blaze, forcing them to retreat."
"Unfortunately, the fire grew extremely quickly to where our crews needed to make what we call an 'operational retreat' to evacuate from the building."
"We would expect to be here on scene for the rest of the day for sure. We have this building completely surrounded."
"The fire was a suspected arson and one person was taken into custody."
A fire at a Kimberly Clark paper products facility in Ontario caused a roof collapse and forced firefighters to retreat. The fire, reported around 12:30 a.m., quickly grew and overwhelmed the responding crews. Approximately 20 workers were inside the building at the time. Firefighters surrounded the structure, pumping 1,000 gallons of water per minute. The fire is suspected to be arson, and one person has been taken into custody. The fire continued to burn into the morning, with crews expected to remain on scene throughout the day.
