Carey Perkins, a Kanienkeha:ka business owner, was approved for a $25,000 grant in January 2025 but has yet to receive it. This delay has caused her to fall behind on insurance payments and ultimately lose her studio space. The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) is responsible for administering the funding, which aims to support Indigenous tourism businesses. While most projects funded in 2024-2025 have been paid, about 10% remain outstanding, prompting a review by the federal government to address the concerns.
